Overview
Mel Aleus began working with MIJS in 2024 as an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Insurance / Liability Defense Department. Mel graduated from Mercer University with a major in Law and Public Policy before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law with a Certification in Sports, Entertainment and Media Law. While enrolled at GSU Law, she was a graduate assistant for professors and the communications department and served in multiple positions including, Marshall and Justice for the school’s chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, Secretary for the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and Press Secretary for the Student Trial Lawyers Association. Mel also worked as a legal intern for production and podcasting companies and an extern for the NCAA Compliance Office at Georgia State during her time in law school. Before join Moore Ingram Johnson and Steele, Mel worked in trucking and premises liability defense.
Mel lives with her family in Dallas. She works with a non-profit organization to assist elderly Georgians with “aging in place.” Mel also enjoys making candles, reading and gardening in her free time.
