Attorney Information

Overview

After graduating from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Ophelia moved to Georgia where she obtained her J.D. from the Georgia State University College of Law. Ophelia began her legal career as the staff attorney for the Cobb County Probate Court. During her time as the staff attorney for Cobb County Probate Court, Ophelia learned the intricacies of probate law and probate court procedures.

The experience gained as the staff attorney for the Probate Court has been invaluable to her clients. Ophelia represented clients in extensive litigation involving wills, trusts, decedent’s estates, as well as guardianships and conservatorships. Ophelia has also counseled many personal representatives and conservators on how to properly manage estates they were overseeing. Ophelia has represented clients in many probate and superior courts in metro Atlanta as well as the Supreme Court of Georgia.

In 2009, the current Judge of the Probate Court of Cobb County, Judge Kelli L. Wolk, offered Ophelia the opportunity to be the Chief Clerk of the Probate Court. As Chief Clerk, Ophelia oversaw the creation of new procedures for the Cobb County Probate Court. Ophelia served as the assisting judge over estate, guardianship, mental health, and minor guardianship and conservatorship cases in the Cobb County Probate Court.

As an attorney, Ophelia has been a presenter at various Bar associations and legal education seminars, including the Probate Judge’s seminars, on probate procedures.

Ophelia’s experiences in both the public and private sector give her the unique and valuable perspective on all aspects of probate law, from advising clients on the administration of an estate or conservatorship to litigation.
