Attorney Information
Overview
Rebecca Franklin Harris is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in high-exposure, complex litigation. She is an advocate for consumer rights and product safety. She is co-lead counsel representing the State of Georgia in litigation against opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers and has helped recover over $1 billion in settlements for the citizens of the state. Her practice also includes cases arising from product liability, toxic exposures, aviation disasters, medical malpractice, class actions, and unsafe entertainment industry practices.
During her career, Rebecca has worked to obtain substantial jury awards and sizable settlements on behalf of her clients in cases against international automotive and tire corporations such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Chrysler, Kia, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Michelin, Firestone, Continental, and Cooper Tire. She has also represented clients exposed to toxic chemicals during their work for railroad companies such as CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern. She has tried complex cases to verdicts in both federal and state courts.
Rebecca serves as the Chair of the Plaintiff’s Interim Steering Committee in a class action case against a consumer credit company arising from a data breach filed in the Southern District of Georgia. She has also represented class members as co-lead counsel for putative class members who were fraudulently induced to enroll in a drug and alcohol facility illegally operating in North Georgia. The class action was filed after Rebecca successfully represented the family of a man who died while in the care of the facility. She was awarded the Courageous Pursuit of Justice Award by the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association for her efforts in uncovering the illegal and unlicensed activities of the now-closed facility.
Rebecca has also worked to further safety in television and film—an industry that brings billions of dollars a year to Georgia. As co-lead counsel, she obtained sizable jury awards for deaths on television and film sets, including a jury verdict for the parents of a camera assistant who was fatally injured when struck by a train while working. She also represented at trial the mother of a stunt performer who was killed while working on the set of the television show, The Walking Dead.
As an undergraduate, Rebecca received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism magna cum laude from the University of Georgia. She then pursued her legal education at the University of Georgia School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor cum laude.
Rebecca has repeatedly been recognized for her legal achievements. She was inducted into the Fulton County Daily Report’s Verdicts Hall of Fame after securing a $16.5 million jury award for an accident caused by a defective tire design by Michelin North America. She has been named in the National Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40, and The Fulton County Daily Report’s list of Georgia’s Top 40 Under 40. She has been recognized by the Georgia Super Lawyers publication for many consecutive years.
Rebecca routinely speaks at professional seminars on topics such as product liability litigation, pre-trial motions and depositions, and trial advocacy.
