Attorney Information

Overview

A dedicated and compassionate attorney, Rizza Palmares O'Connor loves helping people succeed in their lives. Real estate, estate planning and small business law are the main focuses of her practice. She is a community leader and volunteer, helping families and business owners protect their assets and developing plans and solutions to expand their interests. Ms. O'Connor guides her clients through financial matters such as real estate loan closings and purchasing a home. In addition to assisting customers with the acquisition or financing of residential and commercial properties, she works closely with them to maintain the legality of their residences, families and businesses.

For eight years, Ms. O'Connor presided as the Toombs County's Chief Magistrate Judge, during which time she saw the anguish and suffering of several people. As an attorney, her goal was to enable her clients to alleviate their disputes and financial loss and give them a peace of mind. Implementing the solutions that she offers allows her clients to live peacefully without worrying about themselves or their loved ones if they passed away or became incapacitated.

Ms. O'Connor claims that getting one's legal affairs in order might be scary for many people because they are often confused and unsure of what needs to be done. She advises her clients to plan ahead with a dedicated legal advisor to avoid future hardships for their families.

After ten years of public service, Ms. O'Connor has just recently joined the Bryant and O'Connor law firm. She spent more than two years as an assistant district attorney and held numerous leadership positions within the State Bar of Georgia, including serving as the president of their Young Lawyers Division. She has extensive experience working with attorneys throughout Georgia, enhancing the provision of legal services in various communities.

A Savannah native, Ms. O'Connor is a Filipino immigrant child, whose parents made many sacrifices so she could have the best possible education. After completing her high school studies at Calvary Day School, she enrolled in the Mercer University to obtain her bachelor's degree and then decided to pursue her legal studies at the Walter F. George School of Law. While there, she was the president of the Student Bar Association, and she continues to serve on Mercer Law School's Alumni Board. She spent a year studying abroad in Oxford, England, and it turned out to be one of her favourite experiences, which inspired her love of travel and adventure.

Since 2011, Ms. O'Connor has lived in Vidalia, where she currently resides with Daniel, her husband, and their two kids, Judson and Evie. She enjoys social gatherings like events and parties. Both Ms. O'Connor and her husband raise their kids to have a sense of history, be inquisitive about the world around them, and be proactive about making a difference. She also enjoys all things Disney, playing practical jokes on her friends and watching feel-good films and TV shows.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
