Hired Attorney 2024-2026I retained Bosko Petricevic for 17 months and paid almost $15,000 for no substantive legal work. He filed zero motions, missed two written promises to file, left the country without notice, and withdrew on the day I submitted my counteroffer without transmitting it to opposing counsel. He operates completely alone with no staff, no assistant, and no paralegal. If he is unavailable or traveling there is no one to handle your case. He discouraged written communication and insisted on phone calls, which made it difficult to document instructions and agreements. He required cash payments and had me deliver cash directly to his home. No receipts were provided for any cash payments. Looking back I understand why he avoided written communication — his own written emails ultimately became evidence of his abusive and unprofessional conduct. In a written email he stated he was not my advocate and seemed surprised I would expect him to be — while actively billing me as my attorney. Rather than filing motions or pursuing litigation he consistently pushed settlement without doing the necessary legal work to support a fair negotiation. He will present himself as a litigator. In practice he does not go to court. Be aware that if you disagree with him or dispute his fees he will twist confidential information you disclosed to him as a client and use it against you. He is verbally and emotionally abusive. In my experience he used words including "harassment," "blackmail," "tax cheat," and "illegal" against me when I raised legitimate concerns about his work. When I pursued my legal rights he repeatedly wrote "you want war" in writing. His communications escalated into what I can only describe as a campaign of intimidation and harassment directed at his own former client. His written communications became increasingly hostile, threatening, and unprofessional. What began as an attorney client relationship ended with war declarations, threats of arbitration, and a defamation lawsuit threat — all in writing. I have fully documented these communications. This pattern of abusive behavior toward clients is not isolated. I am aware of at least one other female client who experienced similar treatment, and a prior ODC complaint involving a female attorney. If you are a woman considering retaining him I would urge you to look elsewhere. When I presented documentation of his conduct to a Family Court judge, the judge expressed genuine sympathy, acknowledged the pattern, and repeatedly directed me to report him to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel unprompted. That is not a typical response in a routine hearing — it reflects what the evidence showed. Mr. Petricevic represented himself as a litigator but in practice does not go to court. If you need an attorney who will actually file motions, appear before a judge, communicate professionally, and genuinely advocate for you — look elsewhere. If you search his name in online court records you will find a pattern worth reviewing before making any decision to retain him. I have filed a formal complaint with the Hawaii Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC). I share this review to warn others and because every person deserves an attorney who actually advocates for them.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
