Attorney Information

Overview

JEFFERY L. SALES; graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Art History. He attended The University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law, was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2021, and was thereafter admitted to the Hawaii State Bar. While attending Richardson, Jeffery performed countless pro bono hours at the Family Court in Kapolei, working extensively behind the scenes with Judges and staff, as well as being regularly involved in the Kapolei Access to Justice Room. Based largely upon his many meaningful experiences and important connections made as a dedicated law student volunteer at First Circuit Family Court, Jeffery ultimately chose to take the Family Law route and to devote himself to this important if not essential practice area. The decision was a rather easy one for Jeffery because he genuinely and honestly believes the opportunity he has been given to help those in need is best served protecting children, their future and their families. Jeffery truly believes the basis of a stable and strong society depends upon the family, and if he can help these families, it’s the type of work he was and is destined to do. Jeffery has three sisters, five nieces, three nephews, and is ecstatic about entering the “frey” which is ever present as a “full-time” divorce and Family Law lawyer and litigator. Jeffery’s practice will include divorce, child custody and support, post-decree enforcement, military, and domestic violence/TROs.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
