Rebecca is Top Rated in Dispute Resolution by Martindale-Hubbell and is known for bringing structure and calm to emotionally charged situations where conflict is entrenched and resolution seems unlikely. Rebecca’s work is grounded in a deep understanding of how deals are made, how they break down and how disputes can be restructured into workable win/win solutions. Rebecca’s people skills add an essential human lens when tensions run high and trust and communication have eroded. Rebecca has a highly successful track record resolving disputes and is recognized for her professionalism, judgment and ability to balance legal insight with interpersonal skills and structure workable solutions. Simply put, mediation is Rebecca’s passion and nothing brings her more professional satisfaction than helping people move on with their lives after experiencing what seems to be unresolvable conflict.
Rebecca's legal career began in San Diego, California where she practiced with Gray, Cary, Ames and Frye, handling complex real estate finance, development, leasing, and other commercial transactions. In 1991, she joined Albertson's as an in-house attorney focusing on major retail development deals, later advancing to Senior Manager, supervising all aspects of commercial real estate development. She also supervised the legal team's work in pharmacy acquisitions, in-store banking, surplus property, and property management. Rebecca was appointed by Albertson’s top management to serve as one of five members of a re-engineering task force to re-engineer the store development process to meet corporate goals. In 2004, Rebecca opened up her own practice and maintained it for 10 years, serving a large energy-based client and medium sized businesses in Idaho and Oregon. In 2014, Rebecca joined Jones, Williams, Fuhrman, Gourley, P.A. where she mediates a wide array of real estate, business and trust and estate cases in Idaho and Oregon and also handles transactions in those areas.
Rebecca is a fourth-generation lawyer, born and raised in Portland, Oregon, where her great-grandfather, C.E.S. Wood, founded the Wood law firm, carried on by her grandfather and father. Rebecca is an active community member and workshop presenter and has taught “The Art of Conflict Resolution” both at Boise State University and the College of Idaho and has presented numerous other workshops to businesses and organizations on conflict resolution. She currently serves on the board of Common Ground Conciliation Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to reach personal and business success and resolve conflict through creative platforms. Rebecca also recently became a certified trainer in the Jack Canfield (author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul”) Success Principles. She loves painting, mountain biking, road biking, skiing, backpacking, and other outdoor adventures with her husband and four grown children.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
