Updated: 11/12/2024

Overview

Attorney Megan Williams is an associate at Simmons Hanly Conroy. She joined the firm in 2020 and focuses her practice on probate issues related to asbestos cases.

A Trusted Advocate

Throughout her career, Megan has shown an aptitude and heart for social justice—a passion that fits well with Simmons Hanly Conroy’s mission to give clients harmed by corporate wrongdoing a voice within the legal system.

“At the most basic level, I became an attorney to help people,” Megan said. “There are so many injustices in this world and struggles people endure every day. I hope, through the work I do, I can lighten the load for my clients and help resolve injustices they face.”

In her role heading up the firm’s probate division, Megan works with the Asbestos Group, which helps those affected by asbestos-related diseases, such as mesothelioma. Some of these diseases are terminal, resulting in additional legal concerns once a client passes away. Megan guides the family through any potential probate issues related to their case and helps ease an already painful loss.

A History of Fighting for Social Justice

Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, Megan served as the assistant regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, covering Southern Illinois, Missouri and Eastern Kansas. She spearheaded civil rights programming and advocacy, including anti-bias training for police officers, a Law Enforcement and Society program in conjunction with the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, and Understanding Hate Crimes Laws presentations for police cadets and community organizations.

Previously, she was the city attorney for the city of Alton and in private practice at a St. Louis law firm.

Megan received a B.A. in International Studies from Loyola University Chicago in 2005, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She received her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in 2009. Megan previously served on the YWCA of Alton board, where she chaired the racial justice committee. She has also been involved with Boys & Girls Club of Alton, is a member of the Community Builders Network of Metro St. Louis, and graduated from the FOCUS St. Louis leadership program.
