Associate Attorney James A. Chavez is a dedicated and compassionate family law attorney serving both English and Spanish speaking clients with integrity and compassion. During his time handling family law matters, he has built a reputation for protecting clients’ rights while helping them navigate challenging times.
Fluent in both Spanish and English, James provides tailored legal representation in areas including divorce, child custody, child support, maintenance, and Orders of Protections. Apart from family law matters, James also handles matters relating to the purchase and sale of real estate, family-based immigration and is a Guardian Ad Litem in Kane County.
James received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double major in Political Science with a concentration in Law and Power and Latina/Latino Studies. He received his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
As a child of divorced parents, James understands the effects divorce can have on families and their children. James has a passion for assisting his clients through the difficulties associated with divorce whether by means of negotiation, settlement, or litigation and strives to assist families in planning their future post-divorce.
