Associate Attorney, James A. Chavez, is a dedicated and compassionate attorney serving both English and Spanish speaking clients with integrity and compassion in a variety of legal disciplines. James emphasizes his practice in family law but also provides services to our clients with family-based immigration matters and lastly creating a new practice area for our firm by assisting families buy and sell residential real estate. During his time handling family law matters, he has built a strong reputation with both Judges in multiple counties and also other attorneys in a variety of Circuit Courts in Northern Illinois. James is an ardent and passionate advocate with our clients’ rights and interests operating as his guiding light in any type of matter he is tasked with. James is adept at helping our clients navigate the most challenging times and also brings levity when navigating a real estate transaction.

Fluent in both Spanish and English, James provides tailored legal representation in his chosen practice areas. James is a powerhouse attorney at a young age which has come about because he is committed to learning updates in the law, constantly reviewing laws and case law, and is committed to allotting his required Continuing Legal Education in areas that actually benefit his direct knowledge to better serve his clients. James has also been approved after application to be a Guardian Ad Litem in Kane County at his young age. He has been appointed by Judges in Kane County in this role at a young age which shows he has proven his commitment to excellence and detail is being noticed by the Kane County judiciary. He is a fierce protector of children in this role.

James received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double major in Political Science with a concentration in Law and Power and Latina/Latino Studies. He received his Juris Doctor. from Northern Illinois University College of Law where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

As a child of divorced parents, James understands the effects divorce can have on families and their children. James has a passion for assisting his clients through the difficulties associated with divorce whether by means of negotiation, settlement, or trial and strives to assist families in planning their future post-divorce.
