Attorney Information
Overview
Associate Attorney, Yessica Tello, is a natural leader and driven attorney with our firm. She was born and raised in both McHenry & Kane County and is proud of her Northern Illinois roots. Yessica is also proud of earning her Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Politics, with a minor in Philosophy and Law, from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia in 2021. She completed her undergraduate degree in just two years after entering college with substantial credits earned through her local high school’s dual credit program. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in May 2026.
Throughout law school, Yessica gained experience in a variety of litigation and client-facing roles. Her experience includes working on trial level and appellate matters, with an emphasis on legal research, writing, and client advocacy. She further gained hands on courtroom experience through her work with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she assisted with the prosecution of domestic violence matters and also advocated on behalf of the State of Illinois pursuant to her 711 license, which allows law students to step up to the bench on matters in the same way that attorneys do. These experiences strengthened her ability to communicate with clients and Cook County courts, navigating complex legal issues, and advocating effectively and zealously in high pressure situations.
During law school, Yessica was actively involved in The Latinx Law Students Association, serving as President during her final year. She also remains actively involved with the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. Yessica has been passionate about advocacy since she was young and entered the legal profession with the goal of advocating for people who may not otherwise feel equipped to advocate for themselves. Her passion for client advocacy and litigation led her to family law, where she has found meaning in helping individuals and families navigate through some of the most difficult transitions of their lives.
Yessica is fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish and is committed to providing compassionate and effective representation to clients from diverse social and economic backgrounds. Yessica serves our clients with equal amounts of integrity, passion, and zeal. Her commitment to our clients and her teammates is exceptional.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
