Attorney Information

Overview

Lisa Corwin has been practicing law since 1997, focusing primarily on personal injury cases caused by asbestos exposure. She is the managing partner of Wylder Corwin Kelly, a firm she co-founded with James Wylder and Andrew Kelly in 2007. Over the years, Lisa has represented families not only in Illinois but across the country, including Michigan, Florida, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, and Kentucky. She is dedicated to giving her clients personalized attention, working tirelessly to achieve justice and favorable outcomes.

An experienced trial attorney, Lisa has successfully litigated dozens of asbestos cases to verdict, as well as cases involving medical negligence, wrongful termination, and personal injury. Her trial expertise has earned her recognition by her peers, and an invitation to speak at the national Plaintiffs’ Asbestos Litigation Conference. She was also honored by the YWCA Stepping Stones program for her pro bono work supporting victims of domestic violence, a cause she is passionate about.

Originally from Northern Michigan, Lisa attended Kalamazoo College from 1990 to 1994, where she played basketball, studied abroad in Spain and Mexico, and discovered her true calling in law over her initial plan to teach. Lisa earned her law degree from the University of Illinois, graduating in 1997.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys traveling, spending time with her extended family in Michigan, attending Detroit Lions games, and cultivating her ever-growing plant collection.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
