This firm was 100% committed to helping me. I got hit by a construction truck that changed lanes into me on the Edens and I hit the median. I wasn’t badly hurt but I had to see the chiropractor for awhile and I did go the hospital for observation. My car was pretty much toast after that too. Everyone here helped from the first phone call to get me reiumbursed for my car and all of my bills as well as some money for the trouble. Thank you!

    2. I called Chuck Balkin because he helped my Dad with something years ago after he had been in a construction accident that left him out of work for almost a year. Mr. Balkin remembered my Dad which I couldn’t believe. He was incredibly helpful in my situation as well. I was in an Uber and we had been in an accident that was the fault of my Uber driver. Although my injuries weren't super serious, they did require treatment. Mr. Balkin worked with me throughout the process and settled the matter for me. I will be recommending Mr. Balkin to my kids as well should they ever need him.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
