Edward (Ted) McNabola was selected as one of the top 100 consumer attorneys in Illinois in a survey of Illinois attorneys conducted by Law & Politics magazine. For the past 25 years, Ted has been awarded an AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell which is its highest rating for ethical standards and legal ability. He has repeatedly been selected by his peers as an Illinois Super Lawyer and a member of the Leading Lawyers Network. Ted recently achieved a record-breaking $27 million settlement on behalf of the family of a Chicago woman who died as a result of a motor vehicle collision. Ted also obtained a medical malpractice settlement of $24.5 million on behalf of a child who suffered an injury during birth.
Ted has successfully prosecuted thousands of cases on behalf of victims of personal injury, trucking negligence, medical negligence, wrongful death, defective products, and class actions.
Exceptional Qualifications
In 2024, Ted received the honor of being elected President of the Society of Trial Lawyers, an elite invitation-only group of Chicago’s finest trial attorneys who maintain the highest ethical standards.
In addition to obtaining his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago, Ted McNabola attained a Master’s Degree in political science with an emphasis on jury deliberation. He also studied law in Europe and graduated from a course taught by United States Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist in Innsbruck, Austria.
Ted was honored by being admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court and was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts and elected President of the Celtic Legal Society of Chicago in 2024.
A Strong Track Record of Success at Trial
Ted won all five of his most recent trials and achieved verdicts in excess of $30 million including a verdict of $9.7 million against the City of Chicago even after the opposing attorneys only offered a $300,000 settlement before trial. He also achieved a verdict of $7.5 million for the family of a man who died as a result of medical negligence.
Other results include:
- $27 million against the City of Chicago.
- $24.5 million obtained on behalf of a child who suffered an injury during birth.
- $9.7 million against the City of Chicago.
- $9.5 million for a victim of medical negligence.
- $8.5 million recovered for a victim of a defective product.
- $3.15 million settlement for a Chicago Police Officer who suffered an injury to his eye resulting in partial loss of vision
- $3.7 million for the family of a young woman who died as a result of negligent medical care
- $2.5 million settlement in a trucking negligence case
He and his colleagues at McNabola & Associates have obtained $300 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of injured clients. Ted has published extensively about trial practice and is a frequent speaker at legal education seminars. He also wrote a chapter on “Liens” in the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) textbook, the most widely used legal textbook among practicing lawyers in Illinois.
Ted was selected for Leading Lawyers, a prestigious group of highly rated attorneys who meet rigorous criteria. The selection process involves sending surveys to attorneys throughout Illinois and campaigning for selections is not allowed. Ted has received this prestigious honor for the past twenty years.
