Matthew C. Jardine is a seasoned trial attorney with more than two decades of experience representing corporations in complex, high exposure litigation throughout the United States. He is known for developing practical legal strategies, managing significant litigation risk, and achieving favorable results for clients in state and federal courts across the country.

Matt’s practice focuses on defending businesses in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including product liability, premises liability, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and commercial disputes. He also has extensive experience defending national railroad companies in actions brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA), where he has successfully represented railroad clients through every stage of litigation, from pre suit investigations and discovery through trial and appeal.

In addition to serving as lead litigation counsel, Matt regularly advises clients on risk management, litigation avoidance, and business strategy. His ability to evaluate legal exposure, identify practical solutions, and align litigation strategy with business objectives has made him a trusted advisor to corporate clients facing complex legal challenges.

Prior to joining Holmes Peters, LLC, Matt was a partner with a nationally recognized litigation firm, where he concentrated his practice on defending manufacturers in sophisticated product liability litigation involving medical devices, pharmaceutical products, automotive and commercial trucking equipment, and industrial machinery. His experience representing Fortune 500 companies in technically complex cases provides him with a deep understanding of the legal and operational issues confronting today’s businesses.

Matt earned his Juris Doctor, High Honors, from Chicago Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. While in law school, he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif and served as a member of the Chicago Kent Law Review, distinctions recognizing his exceptional academic achievement. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
