Overview

Matt Prengaman previously worked for a boutique Chicago law firm before establishing his own practice where he focuses primarily on civil litigation and criminal defense. Mr. Prengaman has a significant amount of courtroom experience in both state and federal court, civil and criminal. In 2011, Mr. Prengaman helped litigate a medical malpractice trial that resulted in a verdict for his client in the amount of $1.27 million dollars.

Mr. Prengaman has experience representing clients in a wide range of civil matters, both plaintiff and defense work. Mr. Prengaman's practice has included but is not limited to the areas of general tort litigation, civil rights, contract disputes, personal injuries, wills and trusts, nursing home malpractice, family law, medical malpractice, and criminal defense.

Mr. Prengaman has also recently expanded his practice in the area of The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA. The FDCPA was enacted to stop abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices by debt collectors. Victims of unfair practices by debt collectors may be entitled to money damages and payment of their attorneys' fees if a creditor has violated the law. Mr. Prengaman remains dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of individuals that find themselves being harassed or abused through unfair and coercive debt collection methods.

Mr. Prengaman graduated from the University of Redlands as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, receiving a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a minor in Government. Mr. Prengaman received his law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law where he was a student editor of the German Law Journal, a member of the Dean's List, the D. Craig Lewis Trial Team, and was awarded an Academic Scholarship.

Mr. Prengaman is sworn into and in good standing with the Illinois Bar and the General Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
