Michelle R. Luburic - Chicago, IL

Ms. Luburic is a skilled trial attorney with substantial experience handling civil matters, including a strong background in mental health law. After graduating from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, she worked as an assistant with the Cook County State’s Attorney office for almost two decades. She worked in the appeals division, child protection division, juvenile justice bureau, child advocacy division and most recently in the seniors and persons with disabilities division.

While assigned to the seniors and persons with disabilities division, Ms. Luburic successfully litigated hundreds of petitions seeking court permission for the involuntary administration of medication or for involuntary admission to a mental health facility. Ms. Luburic also obtained emergency orders allowing for a person suspected of being in a mental health crisis to be evaluated on an emergency basis. In her role as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Ms. Luburic regularly advised and trained hospital personnel on issues related to the involuntary administration of medication and involuntary admission.

Ms. Luburic has a proven ability to work efficiently and effectively in a collaborative environment to resolve issues and reach successful outcomes. Ms. Luburic is compassionate about her work and approaches her cases in a practical, thoughtful, and respectful manner. Her extensive trial experience allows her to ready cases for resolution.

Ms. Luburic currently sits on the mental health law section council of the Illinois State Bar Association and is the Board President of NAMI Metro Suburban. Ms. Luburic also volunteers at a local shelter with her family.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Luburic graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago where she received a degree in psychology.
