Overview
Adrienne Hersh is a healthcare attorney with extensive experience in providing legal counsel to physicians and other healthcare professionals licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Ms. Hersh handles cases involving applications for license, license investigations and discipline, license restoration, defense of health insurance audit and recoupment demands, corporate, contracts and other transactional matters.
Ms. Hersh also serves as general counsel to the largest professional trade association for chiropractic physicians in Illinois. Ms Hersh advises the organization and advocates for physicians in matters involving legislation and rules, healthcare policy, regulatory enforcement, insurance and third party payment issues, professional practice, employment and business transactions. Her association work keeps her abreast of current legal, legislative and third party reimbursement practices affecting health care practitioners in their offices.
Ms. Hersh previously served for 8 years as general counsel to the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (now the Division of Professional Regulation, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation), where she was chief legal counsel responsible for advising the 50+ licensing and disciplinary boards, including the Medical Disciplinary Board and the Medical Licensing Board. Prior to her appointment as general counsel, she worked as administrative law judge for the Department, presiding over formal disciplinary cases and making recommendations to the various licensing and disciplinary boards and the Director of the Department.
Ms. Hersh is a co-author of The Law of Medical Practice in Illinois, 3d, Volume 21-22, Chapter 1, Physician Licensure, Part II, §§1.5 and 1.6 (Illinois Practice Series, West Publishing, 2007 by Robert J. Kane, Ross D. Silverman and Lawrence E. Singer). She regularly publishes articles on healthcare law in the Illinois Chiropractic Society Journal and the Illinois Chiropractic Society’s members’ only journal IL Advantage, and has presented continuing education on professional advertising, fee splitting in the Medical Practice Act and other health care regulatory issues.
Ms. Hersh received her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law after having graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Hersh is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois.
Ms. Hersh is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Health Care Section, the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys, the National Association of Chiropractic Attorneys and the American Society of Association Executives.
