Brittany focuses her practice on all aspects of criminal defense, including traffic violations, DUI, misdemeanors, and felonies. Known for her strong analytical abilities and compelling advocacy, Brittany excels at navigating complex legal challenges and securing favorable outcomes for her clients—even in the most difficult circumstances. Her commitment to delivering the best possible result is at the heart of her approach to every case.
Brittany joined Cohen & Donahue Attorneys at Law in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience to the team. Before joining the firm, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, where she prosecuted a wide range of traffic and misdemeanor offenses. This invaluable experience in the courtroom—both as a prosecutor and in trial settings—allows Brittany to approach her cases from a strategic, well-rounded perspective.
Brittany earned her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School. During law school, she served as a teaching assistant in legal writing and worked as a judicial extern in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit under the Honorable Judge Shanes. Additionally, she gained early hands-on experience as a 711 licensed intern with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
A graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Legal Studies, Brittany is proud to be from the northern suburbs of Chicago. When she’s not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs or diving into a good book.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
