Attorney Information
Overview
Nick was born in Elgin, Illinois, on March 3, 1994. He grew up in St. Charles, Illinois, and graduated from St. Charles North High School. Nick then attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he studied political science and communications, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). Upon graduation, Nick enrolled in Chicago-Kent College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate (JD), graduating cum laude.
During law school, Nick was selected and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Justice Robert Spence of the Illinois Second District Appellate Court. Under the direction of Justice Spence, Nick researched and wrote an appellate court opinion which Justice Spence ultimately adopted and published. Nick further worked for a prominent personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm in Chicago, as well as the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office (“KCSAO”), thus gaining experience in both civil and criminal practice while in law school.
After law school, Nick became an Assistant State’s Attorney at the KCSAO where he gained significant litigation experience in advocating for victims of domestic violence. After two years with the KCSAO, Nick transitioned into private practice where he worked for a Geneva law firm and began his work representing injured workers. In 2023, Nick joined forces with his father, Marios Karayannis, at Karayannis Law Offices, LLC where he continues to represent individuals and families who have been injured at work, or due to the fault of others (i.e. automobile accidents, medical malpractice, etc.). Nick’s substantial litigation experience affords him the skill and knowledge necessary to represent his clients in contested and adversarial legal proceedings.
Nick is a member of the Kane County Bar Association (“KCBA”), the Chicago Bar Association (“CBA”), and the Illinois State Bar Association (“ISBA”). He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
