Overview

Attorney Alex Campos is a trial lawyer and a partner at Dudley & Lake, where his primary area of practice is representing victims and their families in medical negligence and other personal injury matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Campos spent several years at a prestigious Chicago defense firm representing medical providers and hospitals. Mr. Campos learned firsthand how hospitals and insurance companies defend cases of negligence. He has tried numerous cases to verdict and handled matters before the Illinois Appellate Court. Mr. Campos brings this inside experience to the firm to help people get justice.

Since 2016, Mr. Campos has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the area of personal injury, medical malpractice – a distinction limited to only the top 2.5% of lawyers under the age of 40 in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. In 2023, he was elected to become a member of The Society of Trial Lawyers, an invitation only group comprising many of Illinois’ top trial lawyers.

Mr. Campos hails from the suburbs of Chicago. He obtained his college degree from Boston College. He returned to Chicago for law school, graduating from The University of Illinois Chicago (formerly known as the John Marshall Law School). As a law student, he served as editor-in-chief of one of the school’s law journals and was a member of the Dean’s List.

In addition to his private practice, Mr. Campos has served as an adjunct professor of law at The University of Illinois Chicago and as a court appointed guardian ad litem with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
