Overview
Craig Capilla joined the Franklin Law Group after spending four and a half years as an attorney for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, specializing in prosecution of Illinois professional licensing violations in the financial and real estate related professions, including agents, brokers, appraisers and inspectors. At the IDFPR, Craig was instrumental in the preparation of the newly enacted Appraisal Management Company Registration Act for Illinois. Prior to working for the State of Illinois, Craig worked at a small firm focusing on real estate transactions, representing clients' interests and addressing concerns in buying, selling, and leasing residential and commercial property. Additionally, Craig has experience in transactional work including contracts, business agreements, and corporate governance. Since 2011, he has also served as General Counsel for a small composite technology company providing solutions for compressed natural gas storage in automotive platforms. Craig is admitted to practice in Illinois and a member of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Craig has experience in various state and federal civil litigation matters including: regulatory prosecution, breach of contract suits, personal injury claims, complex property rights claims, whistleblower litigation, and general tort liability actions. Further, he has been a featured speaker on multiple occasions to the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals at the summer seminar events, the Illinois Association of Certified Real Estate Appraisers, and the Chicago Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.
