Verified ClientHired Law firm 2025I cannot overstate how great of an attorney Sara Vig is! I have had experiences with a few different lawyers in my life, some for very serious issues. My case was a disaster -- I really made a huge mistake in my life. And there was a lot on the line -- family, career, livelihood, everything. I was worried and my family was scared. We found Sara just by going online and searching around. Thank God! Since then, her office has taken care of my case diligently for almost a full year now as we worked through the court system. Vig Law took care of everything -- like, paperwork for the court & state, for my job (in healthcare), coordinated with rehab stuff, and help me coordinate stuff with the SoS. She communicated with so many people on my behalf over the year! Bottom line is - if you are in Springfield or anywhere around Sangamon county and you need a lawyer, Sara is the best lawyer around! She walks around those courthouses like a Queen. Like it is obvious that she works hard, lot of experience with difficult cases, knows what she is doing, and she is well connected and knows how to work with everything. On top of that, everyone is Sara's office is so helpful and I got to know them so well given how often I used to call Sara's office whenever something came up, or I got worried and had a question! I was worried the entire time from the moment i got arrested until my court ended -- because I knew how bad things could have turn out. Sara literally saved my life and my family's life. She got me the BEST possible deal with prosecutors and with the judge. My other lawyer told me not to get my hopes up about a good outcome after they heard about my situation in detail. But, somehow, Sara pulled it off! Like I was blown away by what she was able to do! Look, Sara does not give you false hope. She is not going to tell you everything is going to be perfect. And, unless you ask specifically for info, she does not walk you through everything she has had to do for your cases step by step. Like, she does a lot of work behind the scenes! Her office handles a lot of correspondences! I don't know how she does it all. Sara worked so hard to get me the best situation possible and all her effort was worth it! Everyone in my family, my work, and my life, they all knew how serious my situation was -- the law is a serious thing and the consequences are real and they can be catastrophic if you do not have a good lawyer. I'm so glad we found Sara! God bless

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
