Overview
Caryn began her start in the Lake County legal community when as a Lake County Assistant State's Attorney in October of 2007. During her seven and a half years in the Office, Caryn handled DUIs, traffic cases, misdemeanors, domestic violence cases and felony cases including serious sex crimes and murders. During her tenure with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office Caryn developed an excellent reputation with all sides of the legal community, including police officers, Defense Attorneys, Prosecutors and Judges, as someone who is not only fair and just, but also as an attorney who is not afraid to go to trial. As an Assistant State's Attorney, Caryn tried over 70 cases to verdict and is known for being able to think on her feet and execute effective cross examinations.
Caryn took the reputation and skill set she built with the State's Attorney's Office with her to the law firm of Soffietti, Johnson, Teegen, Phillips and Argueta LTD in January of 2015, where she is the Village Prosecutor for the all traffic, ordinance violations and DUIs for the Village of Fox Lake. Caryn also handles traffic, criminal and DUI cases. Caryn's ability to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a case and decide which cases should go to trial and which cases need to be resolved is an asset as a Defense Attorney.
Caryn heads the firm's Family Law and Divorce practice including child support matters, parentage actions, divorces, orders of protection and post decree matters. Caryn has been on the Lake County Guardian Ad Litem list since 2016 where she is appointed by the Court to represent the best interests of minor children involved in divorce, parentage and order of protection situation. Caryn's litigation skill set and experience provides her with an edge in Family Law and Divorce cases.
Caryn was named partner January 1, 2020.
Caryn utilizes the support staff at Soffietti, Johnson,Teegen, Argueta, Bawcum & Barone LTD. to take on Spanish speaking clients and is able to communicate with them to the fullest extent on their cases.
