Hired Attorney 2021I want people to know if they hire this lawyer they will be making a big mistake. I was in jail and in need of an attorney, my sister found Brian Kaiser online and when she spoke with him, he sounded like someone who would be on top of it. I was moved to Indiana on Friday and on Friday afternoon Brian was given half the money to represent me. On Monday I had a bond hearing and I was not given any phone privileges so I was unable to call my family to tell them. Brian never showed up for my hearing and still had not gone down and listed himself as my attorney. He call my sister on Wednesday night to tell her I could get out on bond, she had already found out and I was home before he ever bothered to follow up. I called him and when he finally called me back, I asked him for my money back since he had not done anything for it. He said he would, but of course, I am still waiting to be refunded the money owed me. I would definitely steer clear if you are in need of a good attorney. It took him 20 minutes to take the money off my card, however, it has been a week and I am still waiting for my money

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
