Hired Attorney 2025Don't hire this guy. He gave me zero guidance and refused to return calls, he missed meetings, he pushed back court dates less than an hour before when I already took the day off and was on my way to court with absolutely no explanation. He told me there were 3 weeks that he wouldn't be able to represent me at all because he was getting married (which would be fine in theory) but his reasoning was that he needed a solo vacation to escape his soon to be wife before they got married. And when I congratulated him on the nuptials he said "I mean, it's the 2nd marriage; Really not exciting" I once called, left voicemails, emailed, with no response from him or his secretary for 3.5 weeks and when he finally called back the day of court he said, "Sorry. I hurt my back moving this weekend and I couldn't get back to you". But that was maybe 3 or 4 days prior and I hadn't heard from him in 25 days. He missed an appointment I had with him and said "ope sorry, didn't have my calendar in the car with me so I totally spaced it". He promised face to face meetings which he never followed through with, he gave me no prep at all for my sentencing hearing, and would never show up more than 10-15 minutes early for court but refused to prepare at all ahead of the court date. I had to beg this guy for weeks at a time to get even a crumble of legal representation, advice, or action. I was honest with the judge and I am grateful for what he was willing to offer me, but none of it is thanks at all to my attorney. This was the most defeating, desperate, and overwhelming experience I've ever had. Would absolutely recommend anyone in need of a lawyer to avoid Alex Robbins.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
