Attorney Information

Overview

Kimberly Lytle brings a rare combination of lived experience, legal insight, and determination to her family‑law practice. Before becoming an attorney, she spent years working as a paralegal — gaining hands‑on knowledge of the legal system. During that time, she was also a single mother of two young children, rebuilding after her own divorce. Those experiences didn’t just shape her; they sharpened her resolve to advocate for others.

While raising her children and working full‑time, she put herself through law school — a path that demanded grit, discipline, and a deep commitment. That journey gives her a perspective few attorneys can offer: she understands the emotional, financial, and practical realities her clients face because she has lived them. Kim understands how legal decisions affect day‑to‑day life, children, finances, and peace of mind.

Today, she brings that grounded perspective to a modern, high‑caliber family‑law practice. Her clients value her for her ability to combine empathy with strategic, experienced advocacy. Whether guiding someone through divorce, custody issues, or another family transition, she approaches every case with the same philosophy that carried her through her own challenges — people first, solutions forward, and advocacy you can trust.

Kim was born and raised in Central Indiana, and that background influences her approach to client relationships. She believes in being accessible, straightforward, and genuinely invested in the people she represents. Clients are not just case numbers—they are individuals facing real challenges who deserve respect, honesty, and strong advocacy.

Kim received her Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law. She earned undergrad degrees in Political Science from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis and Criminal Justice from Indiana University Kokomo.

Kim is known for being loyal, assertive, and personable. She takes the time to truly listen, understanding her clients beyond intake forms, and uses that insight to pursue meaningful results. Colleagues describe her as tenacious and approachable, and clients appreciate her ability to balance professionalism with warmth and humor.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys traveling, spending time in the mountains and national parks, and unwinding with cards and coffee on Sunday mornings—usually playing cribbage with her husband. She’s a dog‑lover, a believer in morning affirmations, and is powered by copious amounts of caffeine and liberal doses of sarcasm.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
