Carmel Family Law Lawyer

Overview

For over 25 years, Mark Glazier has been guiding professionals, business owners, high income earners, individuals with significant net worth, and the spouses of these individuals through complex divorce and family law matters.

Business valuation experience

As a business owner, Mark understands the hard work and risk incurred by owners and entrepreneurs to achieve financial success. He brings his best efforts to each matter to ensure that his client's interests are considered in resolving marital disputes. Mark has extensive experience with complex financial issues incident to divorce such as valuing closely held companies and the tax ramifications associated with divorce.

Executive compensation experience

Mark has worked with many executives, and the spouses of high-profile executives, in complex divorce and child custody proceedings. He understands that discretion is of the utmost importance and works to maintain the integrity and reputation of each client. Mark has experience with many facets of executive compensation involved in family law and divorce cases, including stock options and stock grants, retirement and benefits packages, and other intangible benefits beyond the tax return.

Family farm and landholder experience

A native Hoosier, Mark realizes that landholdings for farm families are part of a legacy of stewardship and must be protected for the prosperity of future generations. He assists multi-generational farm families with negotiating prenuptial agreements, complex estate planning considerations, and if needed, divorce and child custody proceedings. His work for farm families is done with an appreciation of the land and its value to the entire family.

Mark’s approach

Using both a strategic and pragmatic approach, Mark aims to minimize risk while working toward acceptable resolutions. He has conducted over 500 mediations and is trained in collaborative divorce resolution. Having this training and experience furthers his ability to help individuals navigate through the frequently turbulent waters surrounding the dissolution of their marriage and a change in their family dynamic.

For over 25 years, Mark has been a presenter and a panelist at seminars instructing other lawyers on a myriad of diverse issues related to family law such as how to cross examine a psychologist when there is an adverse custodial evaluation to issue spotting when dividing retirement assets.

As the father of four, Mark brings a deep understanding of how different children have different needs and how different parenting styles may have completely different effects on children. He is sensitive to the issues that a stay at home parent will encounter upon having to re-enter the workforce due to an impending divorce. He has extensive experience in custody cases involving the potential relocation of one parent. Understanding these dynamics coupled with the experience of trying scores of contested custody and parenting time disputes enables him to provide seasoned and practical counsel to individuals with families in conflict over children.

Mark is the son of an Eagle Scout, is an Eagle Scout, and is the father of an Eagle Scout. The values learned in Scouting continue to guide his professional and personal life. Mark's clients know that when they are enduring potentially one of their most difficult experiences, he will be there with them every step of the way to counsel them with integrity, sensitivity and with his best efforts and experience.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
