Following his service in the Navy, David attended Indiana University Bloomington campus for two years and then transferred to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) to complete his bachelor's degree. After graduating, he attended law school at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
