Overview
Carol Nemeth Joven represents clients in complex litigation and appellate practice. She has tried many cases in both state and federal courts, including cases that resulted in multi-million-dollar jury verdicts in antitrust and legal malpractice cases. Carol has been recognized by Martindale Hubbell with an AV Preeminent Rating and by Super Lawyers for her work in Business Litigation and Best Lawyers in America for her work in Legal Malpractice (plaintiffs). Carol has also helped her clients obtain compensation for violations of their civil rights, including families whose children have been wrongfully removed from their custody. Throughout her career, which includes serving as a law clerk to the Honorable John G. Baker of the Indiana Court of Appeals and as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Indiana, Carol has drafted several hundred appellate briefs and presented multiple oral arguments to appellate courts.
Carol received her B.A. in Economics with High Distinction and a Certificate in Liberal Arts and Management from Indiana University, in Bloomington and was invited to join the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University in Bloomington, where she served as a member of the Indiana Law Journal staff and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Procedure. Carol is active in the legal community, serving for many years as a member of the Executive Committee of the Appellate Practice Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association, including as a former Chair of the Section. Carol regularly serves as a volunteer moot court judge for the Indiana Appellate Institute and has presented at continuing legal education seminars on issues of appellate law and ethics. Carol is also a member of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors. Since 2011, she has participated in the Women and the Law Division’s mentor program.
