Overview
Christopher Cody joined Hume Smith Geddes Green Simmons, LLP, in 2004, one year after receiving his Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis. He had previously earned a Bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy from Wake Forest University in 2000. Mr. Cody is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
While in law school, Chris was a member of the Order of Barristers and competed in the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Law Competition and the National Health Care Law Competition. Mr. Cody also spent one of his summers as a law student overseas in Lille, France, through the European Law Summer Program. As an undergraduate at Wake Forest University, Mr. Cody was a member of the track and field team as an 800 meter runner, and a member of the cross-country team. Mr. Cody had the honor of representing the school at the ACC Championships and the Penn Relays on several occasions.
Mr. Cody focuses his legal practice in civil litigation. He has successfully represented clients in municipal liability matters, Section 1983 litigation, employment litigation, and other civil claims. Mr. Cody has also successfully represented clients in state and federal court through the trial and appeals process. Mr. Cody also previously served as a Madison County Prosecutor where he prosecuted misdemeanor violations.
Originally from Avon, Indiana, Chris enjoys running, golf, and water-skiing in his spare time. Chris and his wife, Jenina, are active members of Kingsway Christian Church.
