Attorney Information

Overview

Attorney Megan Wells is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University—Bloomington, and a 2004 graduate of the Indiana University School of Law –Indianapolis. Following graduation, she was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 2005. Megan is an active part of Indiana law and currently acts as the President of the Indiana Association of Mediators.

Drawn to her career by the desire to have a positive impact on families during transitional periods, Megan understands that family law issues are often sensitive ones. Which is why she approaches each case with the compassion, experience, and legal knowledge needed to provide representation during even the most emotional of times. Megan handles every family law and divorce case individually, keeping in mind that each family is as unique as their circumstances.

Her passion for families extends outside of her career and into her own. She and her husband have three wonderful children who she loves to spend her spare time with. When she isn’t fighting for the wellbeing of other families, she’s rooting on her kids at their sporting events and school activities, cheering on the Notre Dame football team, or finding her escape in a good book.

When you need an advocate that cares about your wellbeing as much as your case, call Megan Wells.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
