Overview

Timothy P. Brazill, deceased, a founding member of our firm, brought an unmistakable faith, energy, and love for life to all those with whom he associated, not to mention his renowned legal expertise. Tim was a 1982 graduate of the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, and preceding law school he attended Wabash College with the prestigious Lilly Scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and also serving as president of the student body and Rush Chairman and active member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. During his legal career, Tim cultivated a superior and well-respected legal expertise in corporate finance, strategic and complex business formation and transactions, and advanced estate and tax planning. Tim’s high energy level was devoted not only to his work, but to his family’s church and school, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carmel. He coached football at Bellmont High School in his childhood home of Decatur, Indiana and became synonymous with the football program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, earning national recognition for the program and mentoring hundreds of young men in the process. He resided in Carmel with his wife and two sons until he left this world to meet his Savior on February 19, 2006. His inspirational life and powerful example of faith through service to others has left an indelible mark on all of us as well as our firm and helps define our mission.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
