DISCLAIMER: What happend to me/us, may not happen to you. This is my/our experience. This is true and accurate. My wife and I along with our daughters was in a accident last year. Won't go into details but, We was rear ended and crunched between cars. Totally not our fault. It was a cut and dry scene. It has taken Ms. Hall-Justice, almost a year to settle this case. In the mean time, I was constantly getting paper work she needed and even more than once for the exact same thing. Also, Instead of combining the 3 people that was hurt in our car ( all family) she did it all separate. That made a whole lot more money in her pocket. Trust me when I say, we got back peanuts after she got finished charging us so many fees. She took out fees for expenses, and then, attorney's fees. The fees and expenses, and fees killed what I got back really back. Even when I would have to keep doing some of the work. Also, communication was very faint. My wife had to send her an email that wasn't pleasant just so we could her something. We was ready to fire her but, we waited that long at that time. It seemed like forever. Then, I get a call. Every time we would go awhile without hearing anything, we would call to find out what was going on. Furthermore, I speak to Ms. Hall-Justice one day and she tells me how, she couldn't get a collector to take the money ( or something like that.) So, I ask her, " what if it goes on my credit report?" She states, " let's hope it doesn't come to that." Seriously?!?!!? Pretty crappy! No, I would NOT recommend her to anyone. For a few obvious reasons.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
