Gilly has went out of his way for me twice..both times I got the outcome I wanted..he is a great attorney. if it wasn’t for him I would be sitting in prison right now, but instead I am going to watch my second son be born.. words cannot explain what he has done for me and my family.. fairly priced good attorney , this is who you want to get

My wife and I came to GDS with a clear open-and-shut case to contest a protective order that had been wrongfully issued against our son. The evidence was clear and the case against him was entirely circumstantial. I myself had already built an air tight case and provided them with everything I had put together. They simply had to run the play. The day of the case, we found out that they changed which lawyer was representing us. He showed up 10 minutes prior to the hearing, and didn’t even know our names. He had none of the documentation I had provided him and had clearly not spent any time reviewing the case. He completely blew the case and entirely misrepresented us, and in no way defended the character of our son, which was the entire point of contesting the hearing and had been spoken to at length in what I had provided them. As a result of how the firm handled this case, our son has to live with a completely bogus protective order against him for the next 2 years.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
