Attorney Information

Overview

Born in 1962 in Waterloo, Iowa, Jeff Taylor grew up on a Northeast Iowa farm where he learned the value of hard work and the value of a dollar. Farming and working construction for his father's construction company molded Mr. Taylor into the lawyer he is today: practical, hardworking, caring and dedicated to those he represents.

The Managing Partner of Klinger, Robinson & Ford since 1998, Jeff graduated from the University of Iowa Colleges of Business with Honors, and from the University of Iowa College of Law with High Distinction. With more than 35 years of experience in commercial and bankruptcy law, Mr. Taylor frequently represents Debtors and Creditors in both complex and routine matters. He represented the petitioning creditors in the largest involuntary bankruptcy case ever successfully filed in Iowa: In Re Walterman Implement, Inc.

Civil trial work is also a large portion of Mr. Taylor's practice, including contract litigation, and family law cases. Sound, practical advice in these areas allows him to help his clients feel at ease during the process and see that there is a light at the end of the long, dark tunnel. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to live music and all forms of motor sports.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
