Attorney Information
Overview
Terzo was born and raised in Cortez, Colorado, near the Four Corners. He didn’t grow up in a big city or with a silver spoon—he grew up on a cattle ranch in the mountains, where hard work wasn’t optional; it was just life. Before he was a lawyer, he was up at dawn tending to livestock, putting in long days in the fields, and learning firsthand that no one hands you anything—you earn it.
Sports were his escape and his passion. He played basketball, football, and baseball, and later, he coached youth teams in baseball and basketball, passing on the lessons of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Those same qualities carried him through earning undergraduate degrees in Economics and Business at Colorado State University. Then law school brought him to Iowa, where he attended Drake University and started building his career.
He didn’t take shortcuts. He put in the work and built a name for himself in criminal defense, juvenile law, and Child in Need of Assistance (CINA) cases. He’s not the type to sit behind a desk and push papers—he’s in the trenches, fighting for his clients. He’s earned the respect of judges and attorneys across Iowa, not by talking a big game but by showing up, negotiating hard, and delivering results. He knows how to relate to people, how to tell their stories, and most importantly, how to fight for them.
And when he’s not in the courtroom? You might find him at the office with his loyal dog, Oby, who has a knack for bringing comfort to those who need it most. Or maybe he’s around the table with his crew, diving into a game of Dungeons & Dragons. And if you’re a sports fan, you might have even heard him on air as a regular personality on The Rich Eisen Show, where he brings his trademark wit and insight to sports discussions, blending his passion for the game with his natural ability to connect with others.
He’s not just a lawyer—he’s an advocate, a fighter, and someone who understands what it means to struggle and come out stronger. If you need someone in your corner, he’s ready to go to battle for you.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
