He then joined a firm in Washington D.C. that specialized in representing individuals and nonprofit organizations in environmental enforcement litigation. He moved to Kansas City in 1995 and joined Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin, where he litigated a wide variety of commercial cases, including insurance coverage, class action, product liability, and environmental cases.
