    Hired Attorney 2022
I would never hire this attorney again in my life. If you have or need something filed in court he’s your man, but if your fighting for custody of your child or something dear or important to you do not rely on this guy. Since the day I gave him his retainer fee I never healed from the guy all the way till the court day. You can’t get ahold of him unless you text his son. Based off that I didn’t know what to bring or have even though trying to find out. So on court day I printed off anything of or may been of importance. Arriving at court him and the opposing attorney had informed me that there had been mistake in what custody order had been worded and that things would remain the same, even though I had brought proof and evidence the opposing client was lying of current situation. Based off them telling me this is just a formality I lowered my guard to go in the court room to “ just go in and have a kind of wave and go hearing” as I was told bc the judge wanted to see us bc the time slot was filled. But entering the court room and taking our seats her attorney mentions to the judge well I know you kinda just wanted to have this although we already have it figured. She says that wasn’t the case . In that same exchange he states let’s just proceed. Unknown to myself he was talking about full custody to his client. Even though he had told me one thing before entering and switching when were in front of the judge. My attorney had not mentioned to me he had changed the deal upon entering and didn’t offer any opposition to change, obviously bc he never knew of any of the evidence or paper work I printed out prior to the hearing. He offered no constellation on the matter bc he had never asked about any of the things I had spoke about while hiring him. I literally lost custody of my daughter to not even anyone I had a relationship with no drugs no problems all support fully paid till date of hearing. Calling him the next day I ask him about it to fully understand then that the deal was switched. I had told him I had evidence of the opposing lying about missed time with my kid bc of her not answering texts before hearing and suppressing my visits although she said she didn’t . He tells me then we’ll that’s what we need to see and that’s what they were looking for . All this after the fact. He never made any effort to know what I had or didn’t have. Never made contact with me until court date. I scpecifically had told him upon hiring him she had suppressed my visits. This guy literally hands custody of kid over as if I had no rights at all, pulling the old switche-roo in the court room and him not knowing any of the facts or proof at hand. I paid for an attorney with this guy and he worked for the opposing side practically for free. He had mentioned he knew her lawyer prior etc. I dunno what debt this guy is trying to pay or favors he owes but he obviously wasn’t in it to help me with what I had been gunning for. Never in my life have I ever heard of a father losing rights to his kid with no drugs, no missed support nothing. My visits were suppressed and she says I had missed a month of seeing my daughter. WOW! Please if something if dear to you or a issue very important don’t put it in this guys hands.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
