Overview
Olivia Edwardson is an attorney licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Olivia attended the University of Louisville for her undergraduate and legal studies, earning her B.A. in Political Science and her Juris Doctor from the University. While a law student, Olivia interned with the Louisville Metro Public Defender and remotely for a public defender based in Wenatchee, Washington. These internships bolstered Olivia’s criminal law experience and cultivated her passion for working in criminal defense. Olivia also externed for Triage Cancer, a nonprofit providing free legal services to individuals impacted by a cancer diagnosis. Through this externship, Olivia analyzed myriad employment law matters and claims such as disability discrimination, FMLA retaliation, and wrongful termination.
Before joining Gatlin Voelker, Olivia served as a legal coordinator for a small business. There, she expanded her knowledge of legal employment issues and familiarized herself with the nuances of contract law. Olivia also volunteered at the Hamilton County Help Center during the launch of their new program to provide same-day limited legal representation to Cincinnati tenants facing eviction. This program allowed Olivia to gain insight into complex and unique housing cases and provided her with valuable knowledge of tenant/landlord matters.
Outside of work, Olivia enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She resides in Cincinnati’s Northside neighborhood with her fiancé, Cameron, and their black cat, Vincent.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
