Consulted Attorney 2024I got a collection letter on medical bills that I didn't even know was out there. The lady on the phone was beyond rude!! I was trying (stress trying, because half the call she wouldn't let me speak) to ask questions about what had happened as I'm on a payment plan with hospital, she just kept telling me, 'how am I supposed to know, you didn't pay these bills'. I then asked, who do I speak with, the medical provider? she states no they wont talk to you, I answered your questions. She continued this cycle of Not Me, but Me for like 10 minutes and never resolved any of my questions. SHE WAS ABSOLUTLY NASTY TO ME! Cutting me off, talking in circles, unhelpful and her hateful tone was not necessary! I finally called the hospital and got resolution to my questions (even though she didn't want me to call the hospital for some reason). I think this firm is a scam! Nothing they told me or sent to me matches what the hospital told me or sent me! Too many signs that are not legit. Numbers and statements don't match, using bullying tactics, not wanting me to call medical provider. I would do you homework before you just start sending this firm money. Something is off here. Will keep post updated with that discovery as I go.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
