Attorney Information

Overview

Galen L. Clark has been in the practice of law for over 19 years. The majority of his practice involves courtroom trial work (litigation). A large part of that litigation practice involves the defense of insurance cases where an insurance company hires him to defend a policyholder who is being sued. He also handles other civil litigation, business litigation, criminal defense, family law and business formation and structuring. Galen's cases have ranged from successfully defending a general construction company in a multi-million dollar lawsuit, defending insurance companies from claims of bad faith, helping a local Christian rock band in a recording contract conflict, defending some interesting criminal cases, and successfully defending numerous automobile accident trials.

Galen is a proud resident of Oldham County, Kentucky where he is involved in many civic activities including Rotary International (LaGrange Rotary Club) and Lions Club International (President and Secretary of the North Oldham Lions Club). He has been a volunteer football, baseball, and basketball coach with both YMCA and Oldham County youth programs. He is also an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America. Before beginning the practice of law, Galen was involved in the Standardbred harness racing business where Galen owned, trained and drove trotters and pacers for several years in New York, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

Galen was raised in Maine and moved to Kentucky in 1974. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from University of Louisville and then studied at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville . Galen attended the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville where he received his Juris Doctor.

Galen is a member of the Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana Bar Associations, U.S. District Court Western District of Kentucky, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and U.S. Court of Appeals 6th Circuit.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
