Attorney Information
Overview
Ben was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on Sept. 20, 1975. When he was very young, his family bought a working farm on the far west side of Franklin County, just a stone’s throw from the Shelby and Anderson county lines. Ben grew up in Graefenburg Baptist Church in Shelby County and went to school in Franklin County at the old Bridgeport Elementary, then on to Bondurant Middle School and then graduated from Western Hills High School in 1994. He was very involved in athletics while growing up — especially football — but his formative experience was growing up and working on the farm. It was there that Ben developed his work ethic and empathy. Just as importantly, it was the farm that gave Ben his original connection to Shelby County, where he has lived and built his career since graduating from law school in 2001.
Ben has been in private law practice from the very beginning, learning his craft and developing court and trial experience handling a wide array of civil and criminal matters. From the outset, however, Ben had a particular interest in helping injured victims obtain their own justice by helping them in their time of need. The life-altering impact of a work or other injury fits well with Ben’s view of the world and empathy for those that are least able to withstand such a set-back. Therefore, as Ben’s career has progressed, he now focuses primarily on his personal injury.
Ben has helped many people receive the financial and medical help they sometimes desperately need, whether due to a work injury or the negligence of another. His work has resulted in a wide range of achievements for his clients, from successfully forcing insurance companies to pay for denied medical bills and procedures, to multimillion-dollar resolutions for those suffering life-altering injuries. Ben takes particular pride in breaking down complex factual and legal scenarios and then acting on an aggressive plan to move his clients’ matters to a successful outcome. He has a diligent and focused mindset, which he uses to carefully examine his clients’ issues from the outset and then formulate and execute a strategy unique and fitting to each case. This allows him to fairly resolve many of his clients’ cases by fair settlement, without having to file a lawsuit. However, sometimes litigation is necessary to fight for what is fair. Ben is no stranger to the courtroom, with extensive litigation experience including complex matters with multiple parties, witnesses and legal issues.
Ben is married to his love, Bren (yes, that’s right: Ben & Bren), who has given him a son, Charlie.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
