Attorney Information
Overview
I am William R. "Randy" Long, attorney at law. I began the practice of law in 1987. "Helping people and making a positive difference in their lives" are the goals at my firm for me and my staff. "We try to create a warm and friendly environment to put our clients at ease. We treat you like a member of the family."
Looking to the future, I believe that, in the legal field, the trend will be toward smaller law firms and attorneys being more specialized. I am a member of the Bossier Bar Association, Shreveport Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice and the America Association for Justice. My work ethic, character and integrity can be attributed to having my parents as role models.
Martial arts is one of my interests and hobbies. I received my black belts in Tae Kwon Do in May, 2007 and in Shorin-Ryu in June, 2007. I currently train and co-instruct in Shorin-Ryu Matsukan Kobujutsu.
Being a north Louisiana native, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, skiing, and of course, LSU football. In addition, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 21 years, Deanna, and our twins, Darbi and Hunter.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
