Overview

Jonathan Ricau was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He chose to attend Southeastern Louisiana University. While at Southeastern Jonathan was an active member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity serving on the executive board as Vice-President of Finance and later as Vice-President of Membership. He also served as a representative of Sigma Tau Gamma on Southeastern’s Inter-Fraternal Council and later being elected as the Executive Vice-President of the Inter-Fraternal Council.

Jonathan graduated with his bachelor’s degree in History in May of 2014. He then went on to earn his Alternative Teaching Certification in August of 2015. From August 2015 to May 2017, Jonathan taught seventh grade social studies at Loranger Middle School where he also served as a Beta Club sponsor. While working as a teacher, Jonathan returned to Southeastern to complete his graduate studies. In May 2018, Jonathan earned his Master’s degree in History. He presented his Master’s thesis at the 2018 Gulf South History and Humanities Conference where he won the William F. Coker award for best graduate paper.

Jonathan graduated with his Juris Doctorate in December of 2022 at the Southern University Law Center. While at SULC, Jonathan became a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association. He also interned at law firms working on cases covering class action lawsuits, environmental litigation, estate planning, family law, construction, and civil litigation.

After passing the 2023 Louisiana Bar, Jonathan began working as an assistant public defender for the 21st Judicial District. He then joined the Parish Attorney’s Office for the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge. After almost three years away, Jonathan returned to Hammond joining Cashe, Coudrain & Bass in 2026. When he is not at the law office he is assisting his indigent clients in Amite for the 21st Judicial District.

Jonathan is a member of The Louisiana State Bar Association, The Hammond/Ponchatoula Sunrisers Rotary Club, and a Member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond.
