Overview

Damon Beard grew up in a blue collar family. His parents, David and Kathy, taught him that working hard was important and necessary to achieve success. Now, Damon is a partner at The Townsley Law Firm, proving his parents right.

Damon was raised in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, and went to Sam Houston High School. After high school, he went to Louisiana State University at Eunice where he obtained an associates degree in science. After graduation, he attended Louisiana State University, majoring in microbiology on the pre-med track.

Damon graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. He worked for a year and a half in an emergency room while considering whether to pursue a career in medicine or law.

In 2002, Damon ultimately decided to go to law school. He enrolled in Southern University Law Center and graduated in 2005. He then clerked with Judge Ward Fontenot in Cameron Parish, before he was invited to join The Townsley Law Firm.

Damon always knew that he wanted to help people, whether that be in the medical field or as a lawyer. At The Townsley Law Firm, he is able to utilize his medical background to help him have a better understanding of his cases, which makes him unique to the firm.

Early in Damon’s career, he was in the Young Lawyers Section and was on the board of the Southwest Louisiana Law Center. He is a past president and still participates as a board member of Crime Stoppers, an organization allowing people to send anonymous tips about unsolved and open crimes.

Outside of the office, Damon likes to hunt and fish. He also loves to stay active playing golf, tennis, and working out. Damon values his hobbies because they allow him to clear his mind and relieve stress.

Damon is married to his wife, Lori, and they have two kids, Jackson and Addison. His family motivates and inspires him to be successful. He strives to set a great example for his kids, so they can build upon his accomplishments in the future.

Throughout his years as an attorney, Damon has accumulated all of the skills needed to help his clients. Helping people and making sure they get the help they need is the reason he goes to work every day. Damon works to his full ability to get clients what they deserve and get them in the right state of mind for healing.

People trust Damon and the staff at TLF because they always strive for excellence when handling cases. They care about people and know that the job they are doing could change someone’s life. Damon and his team practice with the attitude to help clients, and continue to work for them, against all odds.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
