Overview
Travis Beaton is a Member of the Firm’s Business Section. Mr. Beaton’s principal areas of practice include all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, leasing, land use, finance, and general corporate matters. His experience includes representation of clients in connection with purchase and sale agreements, acquisitions and dispositions of real property, negotiated asset purchases, financing transactions, title and survey matters, commercial and retail leases, real estate development, and general commercial contracts. Mr. Beaton is also a licensed title insurance producer in the State of Louisiana, and an authorized agent for several title insurers. As a member of the Firm’s title agency, Capdevielle Title Corporation, Mr. Beaton’s extensive familiarity with title matters is a key component of his routine handling of estate transactions involving all types of properties, including multi-family residential, industrial, hospitality-based, mixed-use, apartment complexes, office buildings, luxury retail, shopping centers, and convenience centers. Mr. Beaton also has substantial experience with specialized telecommunication facilities leases, easements and related agreements, and frequently assists clients with federal trademark applications and registrations.
Mr. Beaton earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University, majoring in International Studies and minoring in Japanese. He earned his law degree from Tulane University Law School, graduating magna cum laude. While at Tulane, Mr. Beaton served as a Notes & Comments Editor for the Tulane Law Review, and as a Senior Fellow for the Legal Research & Writing Department. During law school, Mr. Beaton also served as an extern for Judge Susie Morgan of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He was awarded an academic scholarship, as well as the CALI Award for Excellence in Louisiana Successions, Donations & Trusts.
Mr. Beaton has served on Louisiana Bar Foundation’s Development Committee, and has been a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trusts & Estates Section since 2015, currently serving as a coeditor of the Section’s Probate & Property Magazine; Chair of the Leasing Group’s Ground Leasing Committee; and Co-Chair of the Section’s Joint Law Practice Management Group; and was a past vice-chair of the Commercial Real Estate Transactions’ Group’s Committee on Easements, Conditions, and Restrictions; as well as the Commercial Leasing Group’s Retail Leasing Committee. Mr. Beaton is an adjunct faculty member at Tulane University Law School, teaching a course in Real Estate Transactions, and frequently authors articles and prepares presentations relating to real property issues for various organizations and publications. He has been annually recognized by Best Lawyers for his work with Business Organizations, Corporate Law, and Real Estate law since 2021, and recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Real Estate since 2020.
