Attorney Information

Overview

I received my undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University in 1999 and my law degree from the Loyola University School of Law New Orleans in 2003. Since then, I've been admitted to practice law in the State of Louisiana.

I clerked for the Honorable Jo Ellen Grant in the 24th Judicial District Court for two years upon graduation and passing the bar. From there, I worked in-house in a corporation which was my dream job. However, I found myself wanting to be in the courtroom. After three years in-house, I decided to hang my own shingle as they say and started my own practice. I had a knack for attracting family law cases so decided to give it my full attention and have never looked back. I consider myself fortunate to have found my niche so early in my law career.

I've successfully handled hundreds of family law cases, including divorce, custody, support, property partitions, adoptions and post-judgment modifications.

I am admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and all Louisiana state courts. I am a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Covington Bar Association including the Family Law Section, a member of the Slidell Bar Association and I am a Certified Child Custody and Visitation Mediator.

Why should this matter to you? I attend conferences through the year by these organizations that keep me up to date on the latest in court developments and family law trends nationwide. This means that I will be prepared to handle issues that may arise in your case. Family law is a complex area of law that is continually changing. You need an attorney who is committed to staying up to date and who fully understands the delicate process of family law cases.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
