Overview

Mr. Genth joined the Firm in 1992, and became a Principal in 1999. He has a diverse civil litigation practice, with emphases on business litigation, alternative dispute resolution, appellate advocacy, insurance-coverage disputes, professional liability cases, and the representation of non-profit entities. Chambers USA has identified Mr. Genth as one of the top commercial litigators in Maryland. He is also listed in the Maryland Super Lawyers 2010.

In the area of business litigation, Mr. Genth has significant experience with shareholders' disputes, as well as with the commercial aspects of complicated divorces. He regularly serves as a court-appointed mediator for the Circuit Courts of Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Mr. Genth is immediate past-president of the board of governors of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is the chairperson of the board of directors of Hopewell Cancer Support, Inc., and a longtime trustee of the Jane Egenton Foundation. He is also a former member of the section council of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, and a former editor of the CGL Reporter.

Mr. Genth's reported cases include: Edenbaum v. Schwarcz-Osztreicherne, 165 Md. App. 233, 885 A.2d 365 (2005); Athridge v. Aetna Cas. & Sur. Co., 351 F.3d 1166 (D.C. Cir. 2003); and Residential Warranty Corp. v. Bancroft Homes Greenspring Valley, Inc., 126 Md. App. 1, 727 A.2d 384 (2000) (on brief).
