Attorney Information
Overview
Leah K. Barron is a founding partner and the Managing Attorney at Brown & Barron, where she represents Maryland families in nursing home abuse, neglect, serious injury, and wrongful-death cases. Licensed to practice law in Maryland since 2008, Leah focuses on investigating preventable harm in nursing homes and long-term care facilities and pursuing accountability from the facilities and companies responsible. Since 2016, she has represented more than 150 Maryland families in nursing home abuse and neglect cases.
Based at Brown & Barron’s Baltimore office, Leah represents nursing home residents and families throughout Maryland. She handles matters involving bedsores—also called pressure injuries and pressure ulcers—sepsis and other infections, nursing-home falls, choking and aspiration incidents, inadequate supervision, and resident wandering or leaving a facility unsupervised, often called elopement.
A serious nursing home injury or death can leave a family with grief, unanswered questions, and concerns that preventable failures in care went unaddressed. Leah helps families investigate what happened, understand their legal options, and pursue accountability when neglect or abuse may have contributed to the harm. She is committed to providing thoughtful, responsive representation and treating clients with the care and respect they deserve.
Leah represents clients in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, Carroll County, Prince George’s County, Calvert County, Charles County, and communities throughout Maryland.
Before co-founding Brown & Barron, Leah maintained a national plaintiffs’ practice and served as a team leader at a prominent plaintiffs’ firm that litigated cases throughout the country. Her legal career has always focused on representing people and families harmed by corporate wrongdoing and negligence.
Leah earned her B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she served as an editor of the Harvard Human Rights Journal, participated in public-interest work, and received a fellowship to pursue that work after graduation.
Leah is a member of the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ), the American Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association. She has edited MAJ’s Trial Reporter magazine, served on the MAJ Finance Committee, and participated in its Legislative Leaders Circle. She has also served on the AAJ’s Law Schools Committee, helping law students understand the opportunities in plaintiff-side legal work. She also actively participates in MAJ’s medical malpractice and nursing home litigation sections and AAJ’s nursing home litigation section.
Leah has received an Avvo Rating of 10.0, recognition as a Litigation Counsel of America Fellow, Super Lawyers recognition since 2020, National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers recognition since 2020, and Best Lawyers in America recognition since 2024 for nursing home abuse and neglect work. She has written for AAJ’s Trial magazine, lectured for MAJ, and appeared on legal podcasts addressing nursing home litigation and law-practice management.
