Overview
Mr. Klepper is a principal of the firm. His practice focuses on insurance coverage and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Klepper represents insurers in first-party and third-party coverage disputes in Maryland, in the District of Columbia, and throughout the country on a pro hac vice basis. He has successfully defended statutory "good faith" claims before the Maryland Insurance Administration. He serves on the editorial board of the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Law Journal. He previously was an editor of the CGL Reporter. He has spoken before conferences on a variety of insurance coverage topics. His publications include Choice of Law for CGL Insurance Policies: Toward a Uniform Rule, 45 Tort Trial & Ins. L.J. 31 (Fall 2009).
Mr. Klepper's appellate practice includes arguments before the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the District of Columbia Circuit. His reported appellate decisions include United States v. Coughlin, 610 F.3d 89 (D.C. Cir. 2010), Athridge v. Aetna Cas. & Sur. Co., 604 F.3d 625 (D.C. Cir. 2010), and St. Paul Fire & Marine Ins. Co. v. Bldg. Constr. Enters., Inc., 526 F.3d 1166 (8th Cir. 2008). His reported trial decisions include Nkpado v. Standard Fire Ins. Co., 697 F. Supp. 2d 94 (D.D.C. 2010), APAC-Atl., Inc. v. Protection Servs., Inc., 397 F. Supp. 2d 792 (N.D. W. Va. 2005), and Burlington Ins. Co. v. Okie Dokie, Inc., 368 F. Supp. 2d 83 (D.D.C. 2005).
Mr. Klepper serves on the executive committees of the Contemporary Museum and of the Alumnae and Alumni of Goucher College, which in 2007 awarded him the Jennifer Mitchell Reed '86 Award for distinguished service. He teaches a course on the history of the United States Supreme Court at Goucher College. He authored "Hell, Incorporated," a play produced in July 2003 as a part of the Baltimore Playwrights Festival.
